Procrastination

Erica here. Now that it's absolutely vital for me to be getting all of my ducks in a row, I'm doing everything but. I should be packing and charging various devices but I'm sitting in front of the computer checking Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, and Gmail instead. I decided to finally check out the blog and I see that Chris has already gone to town. I envy his motivation and commitment. I still haven't seen all of the pictures from my last vacation and that was three months ago.

Check often within the next two weeks and I'm sure you'll have the opportunity to relive a few days of our vacation with us.

At the Indy Airport

The day is finally here! Nothing exciting has really happened yet, but I'm sitting in the Indianapolis Airport waiting for my flight, which doesn't leave for another two and a half hours. But as I always say, better two hours early than five minutes late!

This morning I caught the shuttle from Bloomington to the airport. This was a really great idea, and I can't imagine why anyone would actually drive to the airport! I parked my car in a garage on campus, and walked about five minutes to the Indiana Memorial Union (the hotel and student center in the middle of the campus). The shuttle picked me up from there and dropped me off right in front of the Continental check-in counter. There was hardly anyone on it, so I had a seat to myself and didn't have to worry at all about finding my way to the airport, paying for a parking space, or driving in the rain (it's been raining all day). I checked my bags (after having issues with the automated check-in computer - those things always trip me up!), and grabbed something to eat in the huge plaza in the center of the airport before you go through security. The food wasn't great (McDonald's...), but it was convenient.

So that's where I'm sitting right now, waiting to go through security until my departure time gets a little closer. I've been to this airport before, but I had forgotten how nice it is. It is very clean and modern-looking, and perhaps most importantly very well laid out. I always think that the airport process is going to be complicated (checking-in, finding your gate, etc.), but it's really very easy to do.

I did have a bit of a worrisome moment already. When I was waiting for the shuttle, I decided to get some breakfast at a coffee place in the Union. After that I walked around for a bit and ate my breakfast, and about 20 minutes later realized that I didn't have my manilla folder that I was using to store all my confirmations and other documents (airline confirmation numbers, hostel reservations, train confirmations, etc.). This folder also had my ticket for the shuttle in it, and at this point I only had fifteen minutes before the shuttle was scheduled to leave. I retraced my steps, trying to remember where I could have left it, and found it lying on the counter of the coffee shop where I had ordered my breakfast. Everything turned out fine, but it was a harrowing few minutes! I'm going to have to be more careful in the future.

Well, I can't think of much else to say at this point, so I'll end it here. Right now I'm just hoping that all this rain isn't going to delay the flight. It's pouring outside and I've seen a good bit of lightning...
